Another body found
Inspector Carr here again
There have already been a number of responses to my initial message this afternoon. I asked you to think about anything you might have read or seen on the site which you believe might help myself and my enquiry team. I would stress that this site is already quite large in size, and given that my team aren't the most technical, that you all do your best to search it in entirety for clues. As I've said, we are at present treating the death of Roger Haslam as suspicious. This suspicion has been further compounded by an additional discovery over the last hour.
The body of the local guide for the Two Minutes team, a Mr Raymond Penhale, was discovered in Penlee Wood behind the village of Mousetrappe. He had been dead for some hours. An on-scene coroner has marked the time of death to be somewhere between 4am and 5am on the 11th August. Mr. Penhale's body was found tangled in low trees above a sudden drop. It is believed that his death was due to sudden asphyxiation. Mr. Penhale was found wearing a pair of large antlers (confirmed by Joanna Richards as items for use in their documentary).
At present the police are treating this death as accidental - Mr.Penhale tripped and fell in the darkness while playing a part in the teams 'hunt'. It is believed, he was unable to break his fall, and in the confusion fell further into a deep tree-filled gully - his antlers and the cord attaching them to his head becoming caught in the upward branches. Unable to detach himself, Mr. Penhale died of asphyxiation.
Given the proximity of these deaths both in location and time - the police are obviously making investigations into any connection between, despite no evidence of foul play being detected in Mr. Penhale's demise. I should add that the Devon & Cornwall Police Commissioner has given us express permission to divulge coroners details so early in the investigation given the unusual nature of these deaths and that many of you on the mailing list count as witnesses to these events.
Please continue to stay vigilant and if any of you can recall anything at all about these people over the past few days, please do not hestitate to contact me at the e-mail message address above.
Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter
Inspector Carr
